COCO WOOD WAX
(also for leather & a natural way to seal chalk paint)
Tin sizes: 48ml, 400ml and 1litre
A perfect product for all wooden products to seal and protect from use
or to use when wood is dry or scratched.
It also works well on leather or to naturally seal chalkpaint
INGREDIENTS: Linseed oil, Beeswax, Carnauba Wax
& essential oil of orange peel.
Natural? Linseed oil also known as flaxseed oil obtained from dried ripened seeds of the flax plant. Beeswax from beehives. Carnauba is a wax of the leaves of a palm tree grown in NE Brazil used to coat sweets & orange peel essential oil is distilled from the outer skin of oranges.
How do I use the wax? Sparingly apply with a soft lint-free cloth. Leave the product for a few minutes to soak in. Remove surplus wax with a clean lint-free cloth & polish slightly. The strong pleasant aroma will oxidise after about an hour, leaving you with a beautifully waxed product.
Lighter wood turns a slight shade of orange but this will fade and you will be left with a slightly darker wood shade. All wood turns slightly darker with a finish-sealant. This wax can be used when your wood is looking dry or scratched or put on immediately to protect your wood from damage. Waxing helps protect against moisture absorption which can damage wood.
Make sure you air dry your cloths before storing away. Keep tins in a safe place, up high, away from children. Press the lid down firmly to seal.
This can be a flammable product.
How often do I use? Apply 3 times a year or when needed.
What else can I use to seal my wood besides the Coco Africa wood wax?
From your pantry, no need to use extra virgin olive oil.
Great sealant for wooden products used with food.
INGREDIENTS: Oil pressed from Olives
How do I use it to seal wooden products? Warm up the olive oil VERY slightly then sparingly apply to your products with a lint-free cloth. Leave to soak in for a few minutes then polish slightly. Wipe the oil off very well with another lint-free cloth
to avoid the oil going sticky or rancid.
How often do I use it? Once a month if product used often.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY WOODEN PRODUCTS? Wood does not like dishwashers, being soaked in water, too much moisture or too much heat. Boards will not last if hot pots are placed onto them.
Wash your products over a sink of soapy water, sponging the products till clean. Dry with clean drying towel. Place the products on a drying rack and leave to drip dry completely before packing away.
Wood is natural & organic. Cracks might appear, it can naturally warp, create a curve and change colour over time due to environmental factors. Coco Africa uses wood that has been kiln dried to 8% moisture, it is in the most stable state humanly possible when we carefully manufacture our products. We cannot predict or control the changes in the environmental conditions once our products leave our workshop although as much care as possible is taken when transporting and storing our products. Wood is hydroscopic, it naturally absorbs and releases moisture to balance its internal moisture content with its surrounding environment.
Woods wonderful aspect is that it takes on the character of the environment in which it finds itself. Allowing it to express its own personality and animating the space, in a way that plastic and metals cannot. In time it develops its own warmth and charm.
Enjoy your wood, its an incredible medium & a priceless material.
